Types of Vanities: From Country to Victorian

Bathroom vanities come in many different designs and materials all of which can greatly influence your bathrooms overall flow. The vanity is the core of your bathroom, it is the first item you should shop for before looking at other accents. Before you go online or to store it’s important to know the types of vanities. The first type of vanity is the corner vanity. The corner vanity is one of the most common vanity types, and is sometimes your only choice. If your bathroom has two adjacent walls forming a 90 degree angle then that space is perfect for a corner vanity. Corner vanities are great if your looking to save space or trying to achieve a more simplistic design. The second type of vanity is the bombe vanities, and is the least common type of vanity. It’s only chosen for very specific reasons, one of those reasons being storage. Bombe vanities feature drawers instead of cabinets. This could be important for functionality or design reasons. It’s also important to note that if using bombe vanities it’s very difficult to find matching accents. The last type of vanity is the demilune, and it is the most popular type of vanity. Featuring cabinets, a top, and a built in sink with faucets a demilune is your one stop shop. Demilune’s are very easy to match with existing bathroom’s and you can always find accessories for them. Vanities are also categorized by the number of sinks. Vanities can be found by searching for single or double sinks. Vanity widths are also a popular way to separate vanities ranging from under 20 inches all the way up to over 60 inches.  Vanities also come in many different finishes some of which include blacks, blues, browns, golds, and glass. Some vanities also feature qualifications like ADA compliant, American Made, Eco-Friendly, and hand-painted. Vanity styles include children, contemporary, traditional, transitional, victorian, mission, and country. Your vanity is made up of three different materials. One is the unit material like wood, the top material like granite, and the sink material like porcelain. Look for extra bonuses like faucets, mirrors, lights, and jewels. Lastly look at the number of drawers or cabinets, make sure you have enough storage but also don’t over do it, the last thing you want to do is overcrowd your space. The last thing you need to look at is price. Base your purchase on your budget, don’t spend all your money on the vanity save some of it for needed accents.
